Please see the interactive map here to see the location of the IIRE. On the map you can also see the nearest ATM's post office, supermarket, public transportation, exchange bureau, swimming pool.

Inside the house

Towels, duvets, sheets etc. is available in the guest rooms.

There is no hired cleaning personnel, so please leave the rooms tidy and clean. You are also more than welcome to water the plants (if they are not already dead).

Wifi

The wifi from the IIRE reaches the house. The networks are "Ambon" and "Lombok". Password for both networks is 'indonesia'.

Heating

Use the radiators. If they do not heat sufficiently, you might have to turn up the central heating, which is located inside Bertil's flat just next to the door.

Garbage

Please take your garbage with you. Ordinary garbage is disposed in the containers, to the left of the entrance. Paper and glass have to be sorted, and can be deposed on the other side of Borneostraat (the street where the tram runs).

Shopping

Javastraat has plenty of reasonably priced greengrocers, butchers, bakers etc. The nearest supermarkets are Albert Heijn on Molukkenstraat and C1000 on Javastraat (See map. All shops in this area are closed on Sundays, but most in the city centre will be open.

The local Dappermarkt (here) is reasonably priced and has a good selection of both food and non-food.

Getting around

the location is 20-30 minutes walk from Amsterdam city centre.

Tram 14 leaves from Borneostraat and goes to the city centre (Waterlooplein, Rembrandtsplein, Dam, Jordaan). The stop "Zeeburgerdijk" is the zone limit, why it is more expensive to board the tram at Javaplein.

Bus 22 from Javaplein goes directly to the Central Station.

Tickets for public transportation can be bought when boarding. It is however cheaper to buy a Strippenkaart in advance. Strippenkaarts can be bought from the reception of the StayOkay youth hostel and most newspaper stands.

On Timorplein, next to the StudioK cinema, it is possible to rent bikes.

Recreation

Just around the corner you have the StudioK art cinema. All foreign movies are with Dutch subtitles (no dubbing). You can see the programme at their website

Laundry

There is no laundry machine in the house. It is possible to do laundry at StayOkay, tokens can be bought from the reception.

When leaving

Please leave the place clean and tidy. If you leave in ordinary office hours, please drop by the IIRE office with your used beddings and the key. If nobody is around, please leave beddings and the keys visible in the room.
